What’s next for The Good Place? Recently, creator Michael Schur and the cast spoke with TVLine and The Hollywood Reporter about the future of the NBC series.
The comedy stars Kristen Bell as Eleanor Shellstrop, an ordinary woman who mistakenly winds up in the “good place” after she dies. The cast also includes Ted Danson, D’Arcy Carden, Jameela Jamil, Manny Jacinto, and William Jackson Harper.
SPOILERS AHEAD!
After the shocking twist of the season one finale, Schur told TVLine that season two will see everybody “rebooted” because their memories have been erased. However, there’s still hope for Eleanor:
Everyone has been officially rebooted. But she wrote herself a note, which is the one thing that slipped through the cracks. … The original idea was that she writes it on her arm. But then we were like, ‘He would either see it, or when she was rebooted, it would disappear.’ And then we remembered — totally by accident, mind you — we had written a joke that Janet couldn’t eat anything, so when she was rebooted, she smashed a piece of birthday cake around her face. So then we were like, ‘Oh, that’s how she does it!’ It was a happy coincidence.”
Kristen Bell told THR that season two will be “just as explosive”:
You will see a complete reset of Eleanor. It will be fun and just as explosive. … It is crazy. I just kept asking, ‘How are you even going to show that? How did you think of that?’ I’m so impressed with our writers room.”
NBC has already renewed The Good Place for a second season.
