The Gorburger Show is making its TV debut. This week, Comedy Central announced they’ve ordered the digital talk show as a linear TV series.
From TJ Miller, the alternative talk show originated as a digital short on Funny or Die. In the series, Miller will voice Gorburger, a giant blue monster “who, after invading a Japanese television variety show and enslaving its staff, broadcasts from Japan and interviews guests in an attempt to understand what it means to be human.” Previous guests have included Jack Black, Carson Daly, Henry Rollins, Flea, Wayne Coyne, Eagles of Death Metal, Grouplove, and Tegan and Sara.
Comedy Central has ordered eight episodes of The Gorburger Show, which are expected to debut this spring.

PASADENA, January 13, 2017 – Comedy Central is set to take diversity in late night to a whole new interstellar level with the series order of the alternative late night talk show “The Gorburger Show,” it was announced today by Kent Alterman, President, Comedy Central. In its move from digital to linear, “The Gorburger Show” is executive produced by T.J. Miller, who voices and puppets the title character. The show is created by the Director Brothers (Ryan McNeely and Josh Martin) who also write, direct, and executive produce the series. The eight-episode season, executive produced by Sean Boyle for Funny Or Die and produced by Caviar, is scheduled to premiere this Spring.
Said Miller: “In these times? DAMN we need a blue ass monster alien to talk about what the HECK is going on with humanity. And what is the difference between a hog and a chicken?”
“Through his monster alter ego, ‘Gorburger,’ T.J. Miller will ask the big questions,” said Alterman. “Then he will confuse us with clarity.”
“The Gorburger Show,” which previously produced two seasons and 19 episodes as a live action Funny Or Die digital series (watch trailer here: Gorburger Season Two Trailer), features a giant blue extra-terrestrial (voiced by T.J. Miller, “Silicon Valley”) who, after invading a Japanese television variety show and enslaving its staff, broadcasts from Japan and interviews guests in an attempt to understand what it means to be human. “The Gorburger Show” will feature celebrity interviews, musical guests, strange games and other random happenings. Guests who appeared during its two-season, digital run included Jack Black, Carson Daly, Henry Rollins, Flea, Wayne Coyne, Eagles of Death Metal, Grouplove, and Tegan and Sara. Ian Friedman, Rachel Olson and Kellyn Parker are the Executives in Charge of Production for Comedy Central.”
