Gotham: Season Five Ratings

Gotham TV show on FOX: season 5 ratings (canceled or renewed season 6?)

Last year, the Gotham TV show hit its Nielsen ratings nadir, yet the network made the decision to renew it for a fifth and final season, rather than to cancel it. Although season six is not in the cards (at least right now), we’re keeping an eye on the ratings because it’s fun and because it gives us a good benchmark for other FOX TV series. How will Gotham perform, now that the end is nigh? Stay tuned.

A FOX crime drama based on DC Comics characters, Gotham stars Ben McKenzie, Donal Logue, Robin Lord Taylor, Cory Michael Smith, David Mazouz, Sean Pertwee, Erin Richards, Camren Bicondova, and Chris Chalk. The FOX series explores the early days of then-police detective James Gordon (McKenzie) and iconic Gotham City characters — before they became legends. The fifth and final season centers on Bruce Wayne’s (David Mazouz) transformation into the caped crusader.

The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.

4/26 update: You can see the latest night’s ratings in context.

For comparisons: The fourth season of Gotham averaged a 0.77 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.563 million total viewers (live + same day ratings).

Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
