Oprah’s going to church. The first trailer has been released for OWN’s new scripted drama, Greenleaf, Variety reports.
The series marks Oprah Winfrey’s return to scripted television after nearly 20 years.
From writer Craig Wright, Greenleaf centers on Grace Greenleaf (Merle Dandridge), a “disillusioned preacher” who returns to her home of Memphis after her sister’s suspicious death. Keith David and Lynn Whitfield play her parents, the heads of a megachurch, who may be hiding dark family secrets. Winfrey will play Mavis McCready, Grace’s aunt.
Greenleaf premieres on June 21st on OWN.
