Gypsy: Cancelled by Netflix; No Season Two for Psychological Thriller Series

Gypsy TV show on Netflix: canceled, no season 2It looks like the Gypsy TV show won’t have a happy ending. The psychological thriller TV show has been cancelled by Netflix after one season of 10 episodes. The entire first season was released on June 30th.

Gypsy centers on Manhattan psychologist Jean Holloway (Naomi Watts). Despite her seemingly perfect life with her husband Michael (Billy Crudup), Jean starts to form inappropriate, intimate relationships with the people in her patients’ lives. As the boundaries between her professional life and personal fantasies crumble, her desires push her to sink to new lows. Jean is in danger of completely losing touch with reality. The rest of the cast includes Sophie Cookson, Lucy Boynton, Karl Glusman, Melanie Liburd, Poorna Jagannathan, Brenda Vaccaro, and Brooke Bloom

The cancellation, first reported by Deadline, comes as a surprise. The streaming service had been in conversations about ordering a second season. Also, the show’s writers room had been working on a second season for the past four weeks.

There’s been no word yet if Netflix or the producers intend to share what a second season would have held.

What do you think? Did you like the Gypsy TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
