Hulu has a new handmaid. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Madeline Brewer has been cast in the streaming service’s upcoming series, The Handmaid’s Tale.
Based on the Margaret Atwood novel, the drama follows Offred (Elisabeth Moss), a sex slave living in a dystopian dictatorship where women have no rights.
Brewer will play “Janine, a ballsy fellow handmaid Offred meets in the Red Center who, after a torturous punishment, begins losing her grasp on reality.” She joins fellow castmembers Samira Wiley, Max Minghella, and Ann Dowd.
The Handmaid’s Tale is set to premiere in 2017.
