TVInsider reports that Price indictated that Amazon isn’t interested in “solid, good-ish shows” because they need shows that can become distinctively identified as “signature” Amazon shows — not series that coudn’t make it on traditional television. “In an on-demand world, that show doesn’t demand it,” Price said.
Price said that the decision to not move forward with more Hannibal wasn’t based on a creative reason. Amazon’s head of drama, Morgan Wandell, also confirmed that creator Bryan Fuller wouldn’t have been able to give any attention to a fourth season for at least a year because of his other projects.
Amazon’s head of comedy, Joe Lewis, noted, “None of us are up here to make someone’s third favorite show on a specific night of the week.”
What do you think? Do you agree with Amazon’s point-of-view? Would you have followed Hannibal to Amazon, even if you had to wait more than a year?
