This may make Happy Valley fans unhappy. According to Newsweek, the third season of the British crime drama could be years away from premiering.
The first two seasons of the BBC series are available on Netflix in the United States.
Created by Sally Wainwright, Happy Valley stars Sarah Lancashire as Catherine Cawood, a West Yorkshire police sergeant dealing with family tragedy. James Norton, Charlie Murphy, and Siobhan Finneran also star.
Speaking to Newsweek, executive producer Nicola Shindler said that while everyone’s committed to making a third season, Wainwright is currently busy with other work:
The answer is, everyone’s committed to it and is happy to do it. But it depends on the stories from Sally, when she’s ready to write it and we won’t move forward with it until she’s [ready].”
When asked if there would be another two-year wait before the next season, Shindler said:
I don’t think it’ll be before that, let’s say that.”
What do you think? Are you a fan of Happy Valley? What do hope happens in season three?
