Have Gun – Will Travel: David Mamet Developing Reboot for CBS

Have Gun – Will TravelCBS is developing a reboot of their classic Have Gun – Will Travel TV series. The original TV show ran for 225 episodes and six seasons, from 1957 until 1963.

The Western drama’s new pilot will be written and directed by writer/director/playwright David Mamet. It’ll be produced by CBS TV Studios. Mamet is executive producing the project with agent/producer Elliott Webb. Mamet previously created military drama The Unit, which ran for four seasons on CBS.

The original Have Gun – Will Travel stars Richard Boone as Paladin, a crack shot and gentleman gunfighter who prefers to settle problems without violence if possible.

This marks the second reboot that CBS has put into development in recent months. A revamp of The Brady Bunch is also in the works with Vince Vaughn as one of the producers. The network developed a remake of 1958 Western drama The Rifleman last year but the project didn’t make it to the pilot stage.

What do you think? Would you be interested in seeing a new take on this classic Western series?
