TV show description:
Former Navy Intelligence investigator Steve McGarrett (Jack Lord) is the no-nonsense head of an elite state police unit investigating “organized crime, murder, assassination attempts, foreign agents, and felonies of every type.” The unit is accountable to the Governor of Hawaii, Paul Jameson (Richard Denning), and part of the fictional state police force.
McGarrett’s loyal second-in-command is Danny “Danno” Williams (James MacArthur). Other Five-0 personnel include pipe-smoking Chin Ho Kelly (Kam Fong), Kono Kalakaua (Zulu), Ben Kokua (Al Harrington), and Duke Lukela (Herman Wedemeyer) who worked his way up the ranks into Five-0. In the final season, new characters are introduced to the team; Jim “Kimo” Carew (William Smith), Lori Wilson (Sharon Farrell), and Truck (Moe Keale).
With the aide of District Attorney John Manicote (Glenn Cannon), who later becomes Hawaii’s Attorney General, McGarrett and his team are successful in sending most of their enemies to prison.
McGarrett’s long-running archenemy is Red Chinese agent Wo Fat (Khigh Diegh). Though Fat’s plans are always thwarted by McGarrett, he often manages to escape the reach of the law.
