Hawk: getTV to Air Burt Reynolds Series from 1966

Young Burt Reynolds is coming back to the small screen. Recently, getTV announced they will air the 1960s series Hawk this weekend.

Created by Allan Sloane, the crime drama starred Reynolds as John Hawk, an Iroquois police detective working for the New York City District Attorney’s office. The cast also included Wayne Grice, Bruce Glover, and Leon Janney. The show ended in 1966 after only one season.

getTV will air Hawk as part of their “Get Lost in TV” programming block, which begins on April 9th at 7:50 ET/4:50 PTHawk will air at 12 a.m. ET.

CULVER CITY, CA –  March 29, 2017 – getTV trims its programming roster with a No Mustache double feature, highlighting beloved leading men Tom Selleck and Burt Reynolds in two roles without their famous facial hair, airing as part of the network’s Get Lost In TV block on Sunday, April 9, at 7:50 p.m. ET/4:50 p.m. PT.

The No Mustache night begins with Selleck in a powerful performance as General Dwight D. Eisenhower in the EMMY®-nominated 2004 biopic IKE: COUNTDOWN TO D-DAY. The film follows Eisenhower’s intense preparations leading up to the landmark D-Day Invasion, detailing his rise as the Supreme Allied Commander, and his interactions with some of the time period’s biggest personalities as he sought to bring diplomacy to the biggest aquatic assault in history. James Remar and Timothy Bottoms also star.

Then, stay tuned for Get Lost In TV’s overnight event at 12 a.m. ET, with Reynolds as John Hawk, an Iroquois detective working for the New York District Attorney, in six episodes of the rare 1966 crime drama HAWK. Dealing with racial tension from both his peers and adversaries, Hawk and his partner Dan Carter (Wayne Grice) work together to solve crimes throughout the city. The series has not been seen in the U.S. for decades. Featured guests include Gene HackmanRobert DuvallMartin Sheen, and Charles DurningHAWK is the first of two early Reynolds series that the network will air, with episodes of the 1970 police procedural DAN AUGUST coming to getTV’s classic programming lineup in May.”
