Greetings and salutations. TV Land‘s Heathers TV show pilot has found its Veronica and JD. Deadline reports Grace Victoria Cox is set as Veronica. She played Melanie Cross in Under the Dome. CBS cancelled the sci-fi mystery drama after three seasons. Newcomer James Scully will play JD.
Inspired by the 1988 film starring Winona Ryder and Christian Slater as Veronica and JD, the new Heathers will be an anthology series. Jason A. Micallef is writing. Lakeshore Entertainment’s Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi executive produce. In the original movie, Shannen Doherty, Lisanne Falk, and Kim Walker played the Heathers.
TV Land ordered the pilot script back in March. In September, the cable channel announced the production had tapped Terriers’ Leslye Headland to direct. Production is set for this fall.
Cox is among the cast included in Showtime’s Twin Peaks TV show revival, released in April. She played Lynette “Squeaky” Fromme in the Lifetime TV movie, Manson’s Lost Girls.

Dating a murderous psychopath and figuring out what to wear to your best friend’s suicide are typical teen problems for Veronica Sawyer. With a pilot script order for “Heathers,” TV Land is digging into the pitch-black comedy for their first anthology series, based on the cult classic film. Set in the present day, our heroine will be dealing with a very different but equally vicious group of Heathers.
