Is “re-died” a word, yet? NBC‘s Bob Greenblatt told Deadline there would be no second season of the Heroes Reborn TV series, effectively cancelling the rebooted sci-fi fantasy drama. The final two episodes of Heroes Reborn are set to air on January 14 and January 21, 2016, at 8:00pm ET/PT.
Although billed by NBC as a limited event series, star Robbie Kay expressed hope for more seasons.
The original Heroes TV series was cancelled by NBC after four seasons. Its star, Masi Oka, returned as Hiro, for a few episodes of Heroes Reborn. Oka too, hoped for future seasons of Heroes Reborn.
From Deadline:
Originally ordered as an limited/event series, Heroes Reborn will remain that. At TCA today, NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt confirmed that there will not be a second installment.
“Yeah, I think that was always the plan unless (creator) Tim (Kring) woke up one day and said I have another chapter to tell,” Greenblatt said. “I think we’re coming to the end of the world though. Stay tuned.”
As of its 11th episode, which aired January 7, Heroes Reborn season one average ratings include a 1.33 in the 18-49 demographic, and an average total audience of 4.415 million viewers.
When sorted by the 18-49 demographic, that 1.33 rating ranks Heroes Reborn ninth, out of the 15 scripted NBC shows we are currently tracking.
Thursday nights have been a tough one for NBC, in recent seasons. Still, with those numbers, it is not surprising that the network will not try to convince Tim Kring to make a second season of Heroes Reborn.
What do you think? Are you a fan of the Heroes Reborn TV show? If it were to renewed for a second season, would you watch?
