Highston: Comedy Series Plans Cancelled by Amazon

Highston TV show on Amazon: canceled, no season 1 (canceled or renewed?)

Amazon has cancelled its plans for the Highston TV series. The streaming service ordered the half-hour comedy pilot back in December of 2015, but according to reports, it never made the schedule, and Amazon opted to not to go forward. The Highston TV show pilot is currently still available for streaming.

Actor Curtis Armstrong initially broke the news that Prime Video was not going to pick up Highston , via Twitter. He co-starred as Highston Liggetts’ (Lewis Pullman) Uncle Billy. The cast also included Chris Parnell, Mary Lynne Rajskub, Austin Fryberger, and Caige Coulter. Flea and Shaquille O’Neal guest starred in the pilot.

Highston TV Show Pilot Not Ordered to Series at Amazon

Deadline has confirmed with Amazon that Highston is cancelled.

“We love Bob, Jon and Val, both producers named Todd and the incredibly talented cast,” said Joe Lewis, Head of Comedy and Drama Development at Amazon Studios, in a statement. “Unfortunately not every series works out.”

Here’s Amazon’s description of the Highston TV show:

Highston Highston Liggetts (newcomer Lewis Pullman) is a 19-year-old with a wide circle of celebrity friends—that only he can see. His parents, Jean (Mary Lynn Rajskub, 24), and Wilbur (Chris Parnell, Saturday Night Live) force him to get psychiatric help, but his Uncle Billy (Curtis Armstrong, American Dad!) thinks he’s just fine. Highston is a comedy about what it means to be normal in a world that’s anything but.
