House: Russian Remake of FOX Series to Star Aleksei Serebryakov

Aleksei Serebryakov

Russia is getting a House of their own. Deadline reports Aleksei Serebryakov will play the lead in the country’s remake of the FOX medical drama.

House originally aired on FOX between 2004 and 2012. The series starred Hugh Laurie as a misanthropic-but-brilliant doctor.

The Russian remake is being produced by Non-Stop Production, the same company that produced the award-winning 2014 film Leviathan, which starred Serebryakov.

The series has been ordered for 40 episodes, which will begin airing on Rossiya 1 later this year.

From Anton Zlatopolskiy, first deputy director of Russia Television and Radio:

We have seriously considered all the pros and cons before obtaining the format of such a famous series. It is quite a challenge for us to create our own version. Neither well-known producers or actors, nor a big budget can guarantee success when it comes to a local version. There are always a couple of ‘secret ingredients’ that make a series outstanding and we know how to make them work.”

What do you think? Did you watch the original House on FOX? Would you watch a Russian remake? Have you seen any other international remakes of American TV shows?
