TV show description:
This comedy/drama follows a Detroit high school basketball coach who resorts to prostitution.

Ray Drecker (Thomas Jane) was Big Man On Campus at West Lakefield High in 1984. He married cheerleader Jessica, his high school sweetheart, and pursued a career with the Atlanta Braves. When that didn’t work out, he moved Jessica and the twins back to Detroit and got a temporary job teaching history and coaching the high school’s varsity basketball team.

Jessica (Anne Heche) tires of being the wife of a public school teacher and leaves him for Ronnie Haxon (Eddie Jemison), a dermatologist. Ray is forced to move back into his parents’ house with the twins. The house catches fire, and he needs to take on a second job. His friend, Tanya Skagle (Jane Adams), runs into him at an entrepreneurial workshop. She reminds him of his “best asset” of being well-endowed and convinces Ray to turn to prostitution to supplant his income.

Ray’s teenage son, Damon (Charlie Saxton), seeks his own identity and dresses Gothic. He struggles with his own sexuality and has a hard time expressing his feelings about it, in part thanks to his dad. Damon’s protective of his twin sister and is loyal to his dad, but isn’t as understanding with his mother and stepdad.

His twin, Darby (Sianoa Smit-McPhee), is like most teens who test boundaries and experience heartbreak for the first time. She and Damon would rather live with their dad, but opt for their mom and step-dad’s opulent lifestyle.
