Hunted: CBS Boss Expects New Show to be Next Big Hit

Hunted

Is Hunted the next Survivor? At the winter TCA press tour this month, CBS president Glenn Geller called the British import “the next big reality hit.”

Originally a reality series on Channel 4 in the U.K., Hunted follows a team of contestants as they try to outsmart and keep hidden from professional trackers and investigators.

Speaking at the press tour, Geller said he was “very excited” about their version of Hunted:

I think we found the next big reality hit.  I’m very excited about it.  It was the first buy for me as the entertainment president.  It’s called Hunted. It is a straight-to-series order.  It’s based on a U.K. format that aired on Channel 4, and essentially it’s teams of people, teams of two, regular people like you and me, and we go on the run, and we are being hunted by real-life professional law enforcement, and they are the hunters, and if we can outlast the hunters for 28 days, we get $100,000.”

Geller added that Hunted will have a similar feel to CBS’ many procedural series:

What I love about this show is it essentially brings the procedural element that we’ve been showing our audiences every year through our procedurals into the reality space. It literally feels tailormade for CBS.”

CBS is currently casting for Hunted. The network has not released a premiere date yet for the series.

What do you think? Have you see Channel 4’s Hunted? Would you watch the new CBS series?
