In the fall of 2016, FOX debuted its new live-action/animated hybrid comedy Son of Zorn to unimpressive results. Although not a complete flop, its ratings are on the low side and it could be cancelled. Will ABC’s live-action/CGI hybrid Imaginary Mary TV show be a breakaway hit, a mediocre performer, or a flop? Cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned.
Imaginary Mary stars Jenna Elfman, Stephen Schneider, Nicholas Coombe, Matreya Scarrwener, Erica Tremblay, and Rachel Dratch. Marin Page, Jilena Cori, Jason Cermak, Kadence Roach, Marci T. House, and Jamie Schneider, guest star in the first season. This ABC sitcom centers on fiercely independent single career woman named Alice (Elfman), who falls head over heels for Ben (Schneider), a divorced father of three. Meeting Ben’s kids is so stressful that the very idea triggers the reappearance of her imaginary childhood friend, Mary (voiced by Dratch).
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival.
