Insecure is coming to HBO. The comedy series, which stars Issa Rae, has been given a straight to series order by HBO. The Hollywood Reporter reported that the half hour comedy series will follow the lives and misadventures of two African-American women.
Issa Rae will star as Issa Dee – a woman who is lucky in her professional life, but not as lucky in her love life. Yvonne Orji stars in the series as Issa’s best friend, Molly.
For those not familiar with Issa Rae, she is from the world of YouTube. Her web series, The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl has generated 220,000 subscribers and 20 million hits on YouTube.
Prentice Penny from FOX series Brooklyn Nine Nine is the showrunner helming this series. An air date for this new comedy has not yet been revealed.
