Into the Badlands will air its third episode on AMC later tonight, and Daniel Wu is sharing his thoughts on the new martial drama that is making its mark on American television with record ratings. Of course, it follows The Walking Dead. That might help a bit.
Wu sees a long and fight-filled future ahead for the series. He doesn’t see just one season for Into the Badlands, but several seasons.
According to Digital Spy, he said that he sees “five or six seasons” for the series if it is successful. Wu did not plan to star on the series at first, but he auditioned, and he was the top pick of AMC. The fight scenes were a concern for the actor.
He said:
“The amount of fighting that we’re doing is very over the top – even in movies, I don’t think people do this much fighting. Sunny for example, he’s in in 11 of the 12 major fights that there are in the whole series. That’s 11 fight scenes in four months. I don’t even think Jackie Chan or Jet Li or has done that. In my mind as a producer, I thought we should get someone in their late ’20s, early ’30s, who are at their physical peak. So that’s why I didn’t put myself forward at first, because I didn’t feel I was the best option.”
Now, he is happy with how the show came out, and he managed to come out of the first season without any major injuries. For season two, he revealed that fans could see a 10-episode season.
