Jon Benjamin’s 100 Erotic Nights: IFC Developing Scripted Comedy

Jon Benjamin

IFC is getting some action. Today, the network announced it’s commissioned a pilot for a sexy new series from Jon Benjamin.

The show, titled Jon Benjamin’s 100 Erotic Nights, will showcase a wide range of stories about love, sex, and romance.

The scripted series will be a kind of parody of erotic confessional shows like Playboy’s Red Shoe Diaries. Benjamin will star as the narrator and comment on stories that feature everything from nuns to robots.

Benjamin is probably most well known for his voice work as the titular characters in Archer and Bob’s Burgers. Most recently, he starred in Netflix’s Master of None.

Here’s the official announcement:

NEW YORK, NY, November 11, 2015 – Passion, lust, sex, desire, fantasy… and laughter? IFC is developing the scripted comedy series Jon Benjamin’s 100 Erotic Nights created and written by Jon Benjamin (Jon Benjamin Has a Van, Archer, Bob’s Burgers) and Leo Allen (Jon Benjamin Has a Van, Nathan for You, Review). The comedy network has commissioned a pilot presentation, which shoots this week in New York City. The presentation is produced by PFFR and executive produced by Alyson Levy, John Lee, and Vernon Chatman, in addition to Benjamin and Allen.

‘I always wanted to make a show that my kid could watch and I’m thrilled that IFC has given me this opportunity,’ said Jon Benjamin.

‘IFC is excited to dive into deadpan erotic humor, a new and untapped genre of scripted comedy for us,’ said Christine Lubrano, IFC’s SVP of original programming. ‘As a send up of Red Shoe Diaries, these steamy and seductive tales represent a hilarious departure from familiar erotica. As our narrator and guide, Jon Benjamin’s irreverent and revealing journey will leave viewers gasping for more.’

Jon Benjamin stars in and narrates this comedic and wild anthology series of 100 very personal, lurid tales of secret passion, burning desire and ruthless betrayal. Benjamin’s narrator is overcome with confessions of love, lust, romance and sex, from the local waitress to a church nun, to a lover who’s revealed to be a robot. The narrator exists solely to ‘bare’ witness to all the passion in the world around us, while never benefitting from it himself.”

What do you think? Are you a fan of Jon Benjamin? Does this series sound like something you’d watch?
