Kitchen Confidential: FOX Sitcom Leftovers on DVD

I have to be honest, I didn’t hold much hope for Kitchen Confidential when it debuted back on September 19, 2005. It seemed like just another crass FOX sitcom and I really wasn’t all that interested. I then gave the pilot episode a try and was pleasantly surprised. I found the writing to be genuinely funny, several of the actors to be engaging and I enjoyed the show’s offbeat style. And, what was even more telling, I missed the series when it was gone.

Based on the book by American chef Anthony Bourdain, the sitcom starred Bradley Cooper, Owain Yeoman, Nicholas Brendon, Jaime King, John Francis Daley and Bonnie Somerville. The series also featured several fun guest stars like Bitty Schram, John Larroquette, and Cooper’s Alias co-star Michael Vartan.

FOX pulled Kitchen Confidential after just four episodes but the series has now found its way to DVD. As is the case with many quickly cancelled series, Kitchen improved in later episodes. The DVD contains all 13 episodes that were produced as well as few short interviews with the cast and crew. If, like me, you miss this series, this two-disc set is worth a look.Stay tuned!
