Syfy has added six more actors to its Krypton TV show pilot cast. Deadline reports Ian McElhinney, Elliot Cowan, Ann Ogbomo, Rasmus Hardiker, Wallis Day, and Aaron Pierre have boarded the Superman prequel, starring Cameron Cuffe as Seg-El and Georgina Campbell as Lyta Zod.
According to Syfy press materials, Krypton is, “set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet. [The drama] will follow Superman’s grandfather — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos.”
Game of Thrones‘ McElihinney is set as Val-El, Seg-El’s grandfather. Deadline‘s report describes him as, “…a rogue genius who believes that space exploration is a basic form of self-defense, and he has tried, without success, to warn the Kryptonian elite about the arrival of an ancient threat.”
Cowan, a veteran of Da Vinci’s Demons, will play Daron Vex, the Chief Magistrate of Kandor. According to the report, “His real business is defending Krypton’s established oligarchy against heretics and dissidents.”
Ogbomo is Primus Alura Zod, Lyta Zod’s mother. She is a leader of Krypton’s military guild. Per Deadline, the character is, “…an extremely tough and demanding training officer.” Krypton is her first US TV series role.
Hardiker joins as, “the rankless Kem,” described as “a brilliant engineer as well as Seg-El’s best friend and partner in an underground tech-repair business.”
The Royals‘ Day has been cast as Junior Magistrate Nyssa Vex, daughter of Daron Vex. Pierre will portray Dev-Em, P”a cadet under the command of Primus Alura Zod.”
