TV show description:
An ensemble legal drama that revolves around the fictional Los Angeles law firm of McKenzie, Brackman, Chaney and Kuzak. The law firm takes on a wide variety of high-profile and profitable cases but, occasionally takes on pro-bono work — much to the frustration of anal-retentive senior partner Douglas Brackman, Jr. (Alan Rachins). The other senior partners are paternal Leland McKenzie (Richard A. Dysart) and handsome Michael Kuzak (Harry Hamlin). Chaney was found dead in the pilot episode — a typical start to a series episode.

Others at the firm include sleazy divorce lawyer Arnie Becker (Corbin Bernsen); dating attorneys Ann Kelsey (Jill Eikenberry) and Stuart Markowitz (Michael Tucker); intern Abby Perkins (Michele Greene); uptight lawyer Victor Sifuentes (Jimmy Smits); and Arnie’s insecure secretary, Roxanne Melman (Susan Ruttan).

The lawyers frequently come up against District Attorney Grace Van Owen (Susan Dey), who has a steamy relationship with Kuzak.

Others that come later include retarded office worker Benny Stulwicz (Larry Drake) and lawyers like young Jonathan Rollins (Blair Underwood), street-smart Tommy Mullaney (John Spencer), bi-sexual C.J. Lamb (Amanda Donohoe), entertainment lawyer Susan Bloom (Conchata Ferrell), and single dad Daniel Morales (A. Martinez).

In the final season, two lawyers from ABC’s cancelled Civil Wars series — Denise Ianello (Debi Mazar) and Markowitz’s cousin, Eli Levinson (Alan Rosenberg) — join the cast of this NBC series.
