What’s next for The Last Ship? TVLine reports the TNT TV show might not be renewed for a sixth season.
The naval drama centers on the crew of the USS Nathan James, which must try to find a cure for a deadly virus that has wiped out most of the world’s population. The cast includes Eric Dane, Bridget Regan, Adam Baldwin, Charles Parnell, Travis Van Winkle, Marissa Neitling, Christina Elmore, Jocko Sims, Bren Foster, and Kevin Michael Martin.
On his Instagram, cast member Travis Van Winkle wrote “After 5 years, that’s a series wrap on @thelastshiptnt! An experience that taught me so much about being a man. This opportunity gave me the platform I needed to grow into who I am today. This will be my first birthday since 2012 coming up in November that I won’t be on set to celebrate.. crazy.. it’s 2017. Thanks to the @usnavy and to all the branches of the military for your service and dedication to make this world better. To the cast.. I love you. To the crew.. I love you. To the writers/producers.. I love you. Danny Green.. Thanks for the memories. Signing out.” The post was later deleted and the photo was reposted (see below).
TNT tells TVLine, “We shot two seasons simultaneously; the fourth is currently on the air and the fifth will return next summer… We greenlit the fifth with the idea that it could be the final season, however it’s far too early to make that determination.”
