“One ringy-dingy, two ringy-dingys.” Ernestine has returned. Lily Tomlin reprised her Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-In character for a new PETA ad, Entertainment Weekly reports.
Tomlin originated the eccentric telephone operator on the sketch comedy series, which ran from 1968 to 1973.
The PETA ad, which was written by Modern Family‘s Alex Herschlag, has Ernestine answering questions about SeaWorld’s questionable animal treatment. In the clip, the operator opens with:
“This is Ernestine, returning your call from SeaWorld, where everybody has a whale of a time … except for the whales.”

What do you think? Do you remember Ernestine from Laugh-In? Do you think somebody should reboot the sketch series?
