Law & Order: SVU: Donald Trump-Inspired Episode Delayed Again

While it is not cancelled, NBC has again delayed the airing of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, episode 18.08, “Unstoppable.” The installment in question is inspired by Donald Trump’s lewd comments to Billy Bush, on the Access Hollywood bus, back in 2005.

Gary Cole guest stars in Law & Order: SVU, “Unstoppable,” as a politician. In the midst of a campaign, women come forward to accuse him of series allegations. Most recently, it was expected to air November 16th. Watch a promo, after the jump.

NBC postpones Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episode 18.08, “Unstoppable” Until 2017

This is the third time NBC has delayed the episode. It originally slated “Unstoppable” for October 12th. It then moved it until October 26th. When the network decided to broadcast re-runs, opposite the World Series, it pushed “Unstoppable” off until November 16th.

According to the NBC schedule released on Monday, Blindspot and a double episode of Chicago PD will now run on November 16th. No new episodes of Law & Order: SVU appear on the schedule, through January 4, 2017.

Deadline reports:

While the episode had undergone close scrutiny at NBC before, during and after production, sources indicate that there is no change in the network’s plan to air it, even with Trump as president-elect. When will that happen is still TBD. Early January might not be a very suitable time frame as it is on the eve of Trump’s inauguration.

As for the decision to go with a double Chicago P.D. on November 16, I hear it came because the two episodes of the drama had to air before a planned crossover with the other Chicago shows in early January. They also were deemed a good fit as a two-hour episode.
