Netflix is setting out on a new adventure. Deadline reports the streaming service has picked up the upcoming TV show The Legend of Monkey.
From See-Saw productions and Jump Film & TV, the live-action series “follows a teenage girl and a trio of fallen gods on a perilous journey as they attempt to bring an end to a demonic reign of chaos and restore balance to their world.” The story is based on the 16th century Chinese novel Journey to the West. The cast includes Chai Hansen, Luciane Buchanan, Josh Thomson, and Emile Cocquerel.
Production on The Legend of Monkey has already begun in New Zealand. The series is slated to debut on Netflix, ABC Australia, and TVNZ in 2018.
