Deadline reports FOX has ordered a TV show pilot of Lethal Weapon, starring Damon Wayans as Roger Murtaugh. Executive producer Matt Miller will write the TV adaption. Miller created the Forever TV series which was cancelled by ABC after one season.
The Lethal Weapon TV show will reportedly remain faithful to the Danny Glover/Mel Gibson film franchise of the same name. Dan Lin and Jennifer Gwartz will executive produce with Miller and McG, who will direct the pilot.
In the TV adaption of Lethal Weapon, Riggs is a former Navy SEAL and a police officer in Texas. When his wife and baby die, he moves to LA to start over. He is assigned LAPD Detective Murtaugh (Wayans) as his partner. Per Deadline, Murtaugh will be recovering from a mild heart attack and has been told to avoid stress.
