Liv and Maddie are going to California. Entertainment Weekly reports the Disney Channel series has been given a new title for its fourth and final season, Liv and Maddie: Cali Style.
The sitcom stars Dove Cameron as the titular twins—one is a former Hollywood actress and the other is a sporty tomboy. The cast also includes Joey Bragg, Tenzing Norgay Trainor, Kali Rocha, and Benjamin King.
When co-creator Ron Hart spoke to EW, he said that the new title indicates a new chapter for the series:
We love our new title because it lets our dedicated fans know this is still the show they love, while tipping everyone off that a new and exciting chapter is starting. Our cast grew so much in our first three seasons, we love that in our fourth we got to bring them to a whole new world for our final adventures together.”
Whether that new chapter means a spin-off is in the works is still unclear, but co-creator John D. Beck said the upcoming season will feature new characters:
It was a blast to write for the Rooney family in their Stevens Point home. But taking them out of their world and bringing them to the bright lights of Los Angeles lets us take a quantum leap in their stories in really fun, exciting ways. I can’t wait for everyone to meet the fun band of quirky characters the family befriends in L.A. But don’t worry, we made sure to find ways for all your favorites from Wisconsin [to show up] on the West Coast, too.”
Season four of Liv and Maddie premieres on September 23rd.
