Kelly Ripa may be losing more than her co-host on Live with Kelly and Michael. According to The Hollywood Reporter, ABC might be pushing the morning show’s 9 a.m. timeslot to expand Good Morning America.
Earlier, we reported that Live‘s co-host Michael Strahan will be moving to GMA permanently this summer.
Apparently, ABC has been looking to extend Good Morning America to a third hour for some time now. Pushing Live to either 10 a.m. or 2 p.m. would give GMA that extra hour.
Does this mean that Live with Kelly and Michael is on the way to cancellation? That’s uncertain. Earlier this year, ABC renewed the talk show through the 2019-2020 season. And while Ripa has taken the week of Live in light of Strahan’s recent announcement, the network still seems supportive of the show.
An ABC spokesperson said:
We are committed to ‘Live…’, its fantastic production team, and to Kelly Ripa. We believe the show has a great future. End of story.”
