TV show description:
This reality-competition series seeks to crown the best dance act as the Live to Dance champion and award $500,000. Unlike other shows, this one is open to dancers of all ages, backgrounds, styles, and both single and groups of multiple performers.

The series starts with open auditions that are held across the country and in specially constructed “Dance Domes” that were built to host the auditions in both New York and Los Angeles. Those chosen are invited to callbacks in Los Angeles where they then compete in a “dance off” to earn a spot in the show’s cast. By the end of the process, 18 dance acts are chosen.

These acts are separated into three different groups of six for the semi-finals. Six acts compete against one another and two acts advance to the next round. The six dance acts that have advanced will compete against one another in the grand finale where the winning act is crowned, live.

The show is executive produced by Paula Abdul. She also serves as a judge and mentor for the dance competitors. Other judges include choreographer Travis Payne and singer/dancer Kimberly Wyatt. Andrew Gunsberg is the show’s host.

Series Finale:

D’Angelo and Amanda won the title of best dance act in America and took home the prize of $500,000. D’Angelo Castro is nine and Amanda Carbajales is 10 years old. White Tree Fine Art came in third and Kendall Glover was the runner-up.
First aired: February 9, 2011.
