MacGyver: CBS Boss Explains Why the Remake’s Pilot Was Scrapped

MacGyver TV show on CBS

Why did MacGyver need fixing? Recently, CBS chief Glenn Geller explained why the network scrapped the reboot’s original pilot, Deadline reports.

Based on the classic 1980s drama, MacGyver stars Lucas Till as a young Angus MacGyver. The cast also includes George Eads and Justin Hires.

Earlier, we reported that CBS was scrapping the series’ original pilot for a new one with director James Wan. At the TCA summer press tour, Geller said they dumped the old pilot because they had a newer, better creative team:

At the end of the day we had Lucas Till, George Eads, we had an iconic franchise and Peter Lenkov who said I will do this. Knowing we had these two actors, an iconic IP and Peter Lenkov, we thought we had more than enough.”

MacGyver premieres this fall on CBS.

What do you think? Are you a fan of MacGyver? Will you watch the reboot?
