Magnum PI is getting a newer, edgier look. Deadline reports Fast & the Furious director Justin Lin will helm the CBS series reboot pilot.
The original Magnum PI starred Tom Selleck as Thomas Magnum, a private investigator who lives in Hawaii. The cast also included John Hillerman, Roger E. Mosley, and Larry Manetti. The show ran on CBS from 1980 to 1988.
Justin Lin is set to direct CBS’ Magnum PI reboot pilot, which will follow “Thomas Magnum, a decorated ex-Navy SEAL who, upon returning home from Afghanistan, repurposes his military skills to become a private investigator.”
Lin will also executive produce the pilot alongside Danielle Woodrow, Peter Lenkov, Eric Guggenheim, John Davis, and John Fox.
