TV show description:
A single-camera comedy series, the Making History TV show follows three friends from two different centuries, as they try to balance the fun and adventure of time travel with the humdrum responsibilities of their otherwise ordinary lives. The sitcom centers on love, friendship, and how to fit into a complex and indifferent society.
Dan works as a facilities manager at a small Massachusetts college. His life is pretty mundane. It is boring, in fact — until he discovers time travel. He then spends a lot of time transporting himself back to the 18th Century, to be with the woman he loves.
While people in his own time don’t “get” Dan, back in the 177os, he uses modern song lyrics, movie quotes, and even cribbed comedy bits to great effect. People love his humor, and in addition to getting the girl, he is making friends. The problem is, Dan’s time travel causes unintended consequences in the present.
Dan’s love interest is Deborah Revere (Leighton Meester), daughter of the famed patriot, Paul Revere. Thanks to Dan, Revere delays his historical ride, which could change the outcome of the American Revolutionary War and the face of the world.
To help him set things right, Dan seeks the help of Chris (Yassir Lester), a sharp, sophisticated college history professor. Chris is thrilled to join Dan in his travels. He revels in truly experiencing life back in the days of John Hancock (John Gemberling) and Samuel Adams (Neil Casey).
Can this trio be able to save America from Dan’s time traveling blunders? Will Deborah be able to acclimate to life in the 21st Century? Can these plucky time travelers correct the past, help those in need, strive for justice, fortify their relationships, and not destroy the future? Only time will tell.
Series Finale:
Episode #9 — Body Trouble
Chris’ life is in shambles, so Dan plays the time travel card with Dr. Cobell (guest star Ben Vereen) to help get Chris’ job back, but his efforts go awry when he accidentally gives him a heart attack instead. Meanwhile, Deb hunts down Hancock and Adams to convince them to return to the past.
First aired: May 21, 2017.
