Don’t expect to see the Bundys back together anytime soon. Ed O’Neill recently discussed a failed Married with Children reunion plan, Zap2It reports.
O’Neill played patriarch Al Bundy on the FOX sitcom about a dysfunctional family. The cast also included Katey Sagal, Christina Applegate, and David Faustino.
The actor revealed Faustino had a good idea for a spin-off that took place in the modern day:
David Faustino had an idea for a spin-off. He had an idea that was pretty good, and he pitched it to Sony. Bud is now grown up and living in the old house with some of his buddies, but they’re all bust-outs, they aren’t working. His ex-wife is living in one of the bedrooms with Bud’s best friend.”
However, O’Neill said the pitch eventually failed:
Ron Leavitt was one of the creators of the show, and Ron died; his son wouldn’t sign off on [the spin-off].”
When asked if it could ever happen in the future, O’Neill said he doesn’t think it will.
