Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD: ABC Series Will Tie In to Doctor Strange Movie

Marvel's Agents of SHIELD TV show on ABC: ratings

Something strange is coming to season four of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD. EW reports the new season of the ABC series will tie in with the upcoming Doctor Strange movie.

This is not the first time the Marvel drama has featured tie-ins to the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe. Previously, they’ve teased Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Avengers: Age of Ultron.

EP Jed Whedon told EW the tie-in for Doctor Strange will more thematic:

Our ties are at times very direct and at times are more thematic. The tie this year will feel more of a reflection of the movie, less an interweaving plot. As that movie hits the world, it comes at the right time in our show, and you will see some of those same ideas being explored.”

He added:

Doctor Strange will introduce some new ideas, but we’re starting to lay the first brick in the yellow brick road to that. We want to slowly play with the morality of building these things, whether or not we even should and the scientific questions that come along with it. [That’s] the first step that we explore before we inevitably get into other things.”

Season four of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD premieres Tuesday, September 20th, at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
