Marvel’s Jessica Jones arrived on Netflix earlier this year, but fans should not expect to see Jessica Jones pop up on the big screen in an Avengers movie.
In fact, it is safe to say that fans of Marvel’s small screen projects should not expect to see any of those characters on the big screen in a Marvel film.
According to Vulture, Anthony Russo, co-director of Avengers: Infinity War, spoke about the divide between Marvel’s film and television projects at a Comic Con event in Brazil. He said:
“When we start to serialize the telling of stories it’s difficult. You have to have a lot of control and focus on the course of history. The films are controlled by a group led by Kevin Feige, so they function as a unit. Other products, even if they are from Marvel, are controlled by others.”
He explained the division further by relating it to the fact that some studios own some characters and others hold the rights to other characters.
The biggest example of this at work is Spider-Man. He only finally appeared in an Avengers film after a lot of work on both sides.
