TV show description:
A spin-off of Norman Lear’s revolutionary All in the Family, this sitcom revolves around Edith Bunker’s outspoken and very liberal cousin, Maude Findlay (Beatrice Arthur).

Maude had been married three times by the time she married Walter (Bill Macy), the owner of Findlay’s Friendly Appliances. Maude’s divorced and feminist daughter, Carol (Adrienne Barbeau), and Carol’s young son Philip (Brian Morrison, later Kraig Metzinger) also live with Findlays.

Helping around the house is outspoken African-American Florida Evans (Esther Rolle) and later, vulgar Mrs. Nell Naugutuck (Hermione Baddeley).

The Findlay’s next door neighbors and friends were stuffy Republican Dr. Arthur Harmon (Conrad Bain) and his scatterbrained wife Vivian (Rue McClanahan).

The series was one of the first to tackle topical storylines like alcoholism, women’s liberation, abortion, and menopause.
