Is the curtain closing on Maya & Marty? In a recent interview, Maya Rudolph and Martin Short said they hope their NBC variety show will continue, reports The Seattle Times.
The series featured Maya Rudolph and Martin Short in various comedy sketches and musical numbers alongside celebrity guests. The first season ended on July 12th.
In the interview, Short said he and Rudolph were discussing new ideas after the show wrapped its first season:
After it wrapped, Maya and I were still discussing new ideas: ‘Wouldn’t it be great if …?’ ‘Yeah, we gotta remember that!’”
Rudolph added that she doesn’t think the show is “over”:
I could perform with Marty for the rest of my life. I don’t feel like it’s over.”
Ratings for the first season of Maya & Marty were decent for a summer series. The variety show earned an average of 1.17 in the 18-49 demo and 4.759 million viewers. NBC has not yet announced whether Maya & Marty is cancelled or renewed.
