TV show description:
This series takes place in Los Angeles and centers around an unorthodox psychiatrist who gets named as Director of Mental Health Services of a hospital. His coworkers soon begin to wonder if he’s any more stable than his patients.
Dr. Jack Gallagher (Chris Vance) is British, yet has lived in the States for some time because his stepfather is American. Dr. Gallagher’s style of treating patients is to get inside their heads, yet most of his fellow doctors don’t understand this method at all. Part of his interest in psychiatry could be due to his sister, Becky (Amanda Douge), having schizophrenia and currently being MIA. He might also be dealing with clinical depression himself.
One person knows exactly what she’s up against with Dr. Gallagher; hospital administrator Nora Skoff (Annabella Sciorra). She has a romantic history with him and her conservative ways of running the hospital don’t mesh too well with Dr. Gallagher’s methods of treating patients. Dr. Veronica Hayden-Jones (Jacqueline McKenzie) is even more unhappy with Dr. Gallagher. She thinks she should have gotten the job as Director of Mental Health Services. She has other problems though, cheating on her husband with one of the other doctors.
Dr. Chloe Artis (Marisa Ramirez) seems to be one of the few that actually appreciate Dr. Gallagher. She feels her residency is beneath her, until he shows her everything that psychiatry can be. She is pursued relentlessly by first-year resident Dr. Arturo Suarez (Nicholas Gonzalez). He seems to have only one thing on his mind, even though Dr. Artis has told him that she’s a lesbian. Dr. Carl Belle (Derek Webster) wants to see Dr. Gallagher fail and blackmails Dr. Suarez into spying on him, knowing that the resident falsified his transcripts to become a doctor.
Episode 13 — Bad Moon Rising
Nora must make a difficult decision and Dr. Gallagher sees a therapist about his recent problems. While meeting in Dr. Gallagher’s apartment to solve a hospital budgetary crisis, the personnel are taken hostage by a man who believes he’s a wolf man.
First aired: August 14, 2009.
The show has not been revived or remade.
