Michael Jackson: Series Based On Singer’s Final Days Coming To TV

Warner Bros Television

Warner Bros. Television has signed a deal to bring a yet to be titled television series based on the final days of Michael Jackson to the small screen. The Los Angeles Times reported that the series would be based on the book written by Tavis Smiley titled Before You Judge Me: The Triumph And Tragedy of Michael Jackson’s Last Days.

The book tells the account of the final 16 weeks of Jackson’s life, while he was prepping for his This Is It concert tour. A film containing footage of that tour preparation was released in 2009, and it was a big hit. Jackson died before the tour began.

This is not the only book by Tavis Smiley that is being used as a basis for a television series. His book titled My Journey With Maya, released in 2015, is also being turned into a television series. A third book focusing on the final year of Martin Luther King Jr.’s life is also finding a life on the small screen. J.J. Abrams is turning that book into an event series.

No network has been set for any of these future projects. Before You Judge Me: The Triumph And Tragedy of Michael Jackson’s Last Days will hit store shelves in book form in June 2016.
