The Mist does have a potentially long future ahead of it – if it does well on Spike. In early 2018, Spike will rebrand as Paramount Network, and it is possible that The Mist could be a part of the move.
Kevin Kay spoke about the launch of the new Paramount Network and its connection to The Mist. He said the following in an interview with Deadline:
“In success, if this season on Spike goes well, we would pick it up for next year, and Season 2 will be on Paramount. I think it looks very good, there is a big marketing campaign that is about to launch around it. We think it’s got a lot of potential, and it might join the Paramount Network.”
