Does Modern Family still have life left in it? Recently, co-creator Steve Levitan spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about the future of the ABC TV show.
The sitcom, which is currently in its 10th season, stars Ed O’Neill, Sofía Vergara, Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet, Sarah Hyland, Ariel Winter, Nolan Gould, and Rico Rodriguez.
As reported earlier, season 10 is the last contracted season for Modern Family. So will there be an 11th season? Levitan says there is interest:
There’s definitely interest from the studio and network and we’re all trying to figure out if that’s what we want to do. There’s a general desire from just about everybody involved to not say goodbye yet. There are a couple hurdles that have to be climbed. We’ll see if it all comes together.”
But, Levitan says, if the ABC series is renewed for season 11, that will be the last season:
I thought season 10 was going to be it. I think everyone has said season 11 is it. If we were to do it, season 11 would be it, for sure. And I’m not sure it would be a full season. We’re all trying to figure that out.”
