After her accountant embezzles her savings, former model Madolyn “Maddie” Hayes (Cybill Shepherd) is bankrupt. She needs to divest herself of several money-losing businesses that she’d owned as tax write-offs. One of those is a Los Angeles detective agency helmed by the carefree David Addison (Bruce Willis). David eventually convinces Maddie to keep the business open and to run it in partnership with him as Blue Moon Investigations. With the help of rhyming receptionist Agnes DiPesto (Allyce Beasley) and temp Herbert Viola (Curtis Armstrong), David and Maddie solve highly unusual cases and manage to keep their sexual tension in check — at least for awhile.
