TV show description:
This situation comedy revolves primarily around a female sports columnist and the men in her life; her brother, friends, and a rival writer.

Penelope Jane “PJ” Franklin (Jordana Spiro) isn’t just sexy and smart, she’s also a sports nut, great at poker, and a sportswriter for the Chicago Sun-Times. She’s the best buddy to a group of guy friends, but it doesn’t seem to help her to have a lasting relationship in the the dating game. The men she dates have a hard time getting used to her upfront approach and all of the other men in her life.

One of PJ’s friends is Bobby Newman (Kyle Howard), a sportswriter for the rival newspaper, the Chicago Tribune. He comes from a very wealthy family, a fact he tries to keep hidden from his friends. PJ and Bobby are instantly attracted to one another but Bobby’s not sure it can work out because she’s too much like “one of the guys.”

Brendan Dorff (Reid Scott) is a hard rock DJ who has an on-again off-again relationship with his girlfriend. This often leads him to crash at PJ’s place.

Mike Callahan (Jamie Kaler) works in the front office for the Chicago Cubs and is a commitment-challenged ladies man. Kenny Moritorri (Michael Bunin) owns a sports memorabilia store and can be just as socially inept as Mike. He has a love-hate relationship with Stephanie Layne (Kellee Stewart), PJ’s best friend and a fellow writer.

PJ’s brother, Andy Franklin (Jim Gaffigan), seems to be trapped in the middle, and can’t find a comfortable space in between the carefree days of his youth and sobering days of adult responsibility.
