$#*! My Dad Says: Creator Says His Show Killed the Twitter Trend

$#*! My Dad Says had a short life of one season on CBS before it was cancelled. The series starred William Shatner, and it tried to launch the Twitter trend on television. However, the series had the opposite effect.

Justin Halpern, the man behind the Twitter trend, shared his thoughts about the series and social media in an article he wrote for The Hollywood Reporter.

He admits that the series flop put a stop to other Twitter trends being developed into television shows. He said:

“After the failure of the show, many of the Twitter feeds that had been bought that pilot season died. And during the next few years, Twitter-to-TV pilot purchases went away, but Twitter did not. It became a great place to find talented writers and performers like Megan Amram, Jen Statsky and Rob Delaney.”

It is safe to say that Twitter and Twitter trends will not be going anywhere anytime soon, but it is not likely you will see any more trends turned into television shows.
