What’s next for Nashville? Recently, CMT chief Kevin Kay spoke with Deadline about the future of the series.
The country music drama is currently in its fifth season overall but its first on CMT. The show was cancelled by its original network, ABC, after season four last year. The cast includes Hayden Panettiere, Charles Esten, Clare Bowen, Sam Palladio, Chris Carmack, Jonathan Jackson, Lennon Stella, and Maisy Stella.
WARNING: NASHVILLE SPOILERS AHEAD!
In the interview, Kay says he thinks Nashville has “a lot of life in it” despite the recent death of Connie Britton’s lead character, Rayna James:
I believe Nashville has a lot of life in it. I know that Rayna has passed away in a highly rated episode, and then the funeral was even more highly rated. We will see how the audience reacts to Nashville and the next 11 episodes but I believe that there are great fans of the show and it’s got a good future ahead of it, we are encouraged that we can continue to do it. I honestly think it’s a great show, I’ve been a fan of it forever.”
What do you think? Do you watch Nashville? Will you still watch without Connie Britton?
