According to Deadline, the new comedy would go directly to series using the 10/90 model that has been used with the Tyler Perry sitcoms and Anger Management.
This would be Universal TV’s first 10/90 deal. Essentially, the studio would order 10 episodes (without a pilot) and then, if the episodes hit a certain ratings minimum, 90 more episodes would be ordered automatically. The 100 episodes would give Universal enough installments for syndication.
Episodes are typically filmed on an abbreviated schedule in these arrangements and some would argue that the quality can suffer as a result.
What do you think? Would you like to see Barr return in a new sitcom? What do you think of the 90/10 model?
