What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the CBS television network, NCIS: Los Angeles features the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) Office of Special Projects (OSP). The chameleon-like Special Agent “G” Callen (Chris O’Donnell) can transform into anyone, in order to infiltrate the criminal underworld. He partners with Special Agent Sam Hanna (LL Cool J). A former U.S. Navy SEAL, Hanna has seen action in both Afghanistan and Iraq. The seemingly omniscient Henrietta “Hetty” Lange (Linda Hunt) oversees the staff. She provides the team with everything from micro-surveillance cameras to cars. The cast also includes Daniela Ruah, Eric Christian Olsen, Barrett Foa, Renée Felice Smith, and Miguel Ferrer (who passed away during the season).

The eighth season of NCIS: Los Angeles is averaging a 1.31 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 10.12 million viewers. Compared to season seven, that’s down by 1% in the demo and up by 17% in terms of average total viewers. Find out how NCIS: Los Angeles stacks up against the other CBS TV shows.
On March 23, 2017, NCIS: Los Angeles was renewed for a ninth season.
It will debut on October 1, 2017 at 9:30pm.

Telly’s Take
Despite some significant off-screen changes and being moved to Sunday nights, NCIS: Los Angeles is still going strong in its eighth season. Last year, in season seven, NCIS: Los Angeles was down by nearly 18% in the demo and 7% in terms of total audience size. Although it hasn’t yet completely recovered its loss in the demo, the show has more than made up for it, in terms of total viewers. While Sundays can be tricky, because start times are often delayed by football overruns, NCIS: Los Angeles has made the most of the scheduling change. As long as the actors and producers are willing to continue and can agree on contract issues, I am confident CBS will renew NCIS: Los Angeles for a ninth season.
3/23 update: CBS has renewed this show.
